Submit Ideas

Through D3 Decides, District 3 community members will directly impact the projects funded by the city of San Jose in your community, starting with sharing your ideas for improving District 3.

If you have an idea about how things could work better in your community, click on the map image on the left to open our ideas portal. Once you have opened the ideas portal, click “SHARE YOUR IDEA!” to create a new idea on the map. Check out the guidelines to see what ideas can be funded.

After you submit your idea on the Idea Collection Map, your idea will be given to community volunteers, called Budget Delegates. Budget Delegates work to turn ideas into real proposals for a ballot, with input from city agencies. These proposals will be up for a community-wide vote in March / April 2017.

Project Eligibility
Criteria Projects are eligible for funding if they meet the following criteria:

-Benefit the public.
-Are a one-time expense that can be completed with funds from the 2017 Participatory Budgeting process.
-Are capital projects, which usually involve infrastructure improvements (as opposed to operating projects, which usually fund salaries and services). Infrastructure is usually physical, but not always. Many IT-related projects, such as developing an app or expanding free public Wi-FI, could be eligible.
-Are implemented by the City of San José on City property (streets, sidewalks, parks, libraries, community centers, municipal buildings, etc.).
-Are located within District 3.
